OZ Special Guests 2021:

John Fricke

John Fricke is widely regarded as the world’s preeminent Oz and Judy Garland historian/author. He's a two-time Emmy Award winner, a Grammy Award nominee, and has written two books about Garland, two about the MGM OZ film, and two about the entire Oz phenomenon (THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF OZ). His latest book, with Gabriel Gale, is THE ART OF OZ, which will be launched at OZtoberFest!

John has lectured at Hollywood's TCM Film Festival and Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences; at NYC’s Museum of Modern Art; at France’s Deauville Film Festival; and at London’s National Film Theatre. He delivers commentary tracks on eight Garland DVDs (including OZ) and has appeared on TCM, The TODAY Show (five times), CNN, and NPR. His next book is WHITE CHRISTMAS: A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE CLASSIC HOLIDAY FILM.

Johnpaul Cafiero

Johnpaul's family's extraordinary Oz collection makes up a great percentage of material showcased at The OZ Museum in Wamego.

Friar Johnpaul is a Franciscan Catholic Priest from NY, presently living in Brooklyn, Ohio. He is a counselor at Padua Franciscan HS, and a police chaplain for the Parma Police Dept.

Gabriel Gale

Gabriel Gale is the conceptualizer and coauthor of AGES OF OZ, a Simon & Schuster book trilogy for children and young adults. The first two volumes -- A FIERY FRIENDSHIP and A DARK DESCENT -- are now available and have been enthusiastically received and reviewed as "fast-paced," "entertaining," and "filled with excitement and magical creatures."

A native of Brooklyn, NY, Gabriel began work on his ground-breaking Oz writing and producing after he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Cooper Union and a Master’s Degree in Architecture from Columbia (both universities in New York City). He is a science and history buff and a thrill-seeking adventurer -- attributes that serve him well as a Historian of Oz.  Gabriel is excited to present his latest book, THE ART OF OZ, which includes never-before-published art and architecture of Oz. He feels blessed to have such important Ozzy people produce the book with him -- John Fricke provided the text, Michael Patrick Hearn provided an afterword, and Jane Lahr packaged the book with Rizzoli Publishers!

Again this year we are proud to have partnered with the Wamego High School VETERAN’S HONOR FLIGHT Program! A percentage of the registration fee will be donated to this organization. The Honor Flight has a mission to take veterans to Washington D.C. to see their respective memorials.  Wamego High School proudly joined the Kansas Honor Flight Network in 2012.  They search for veterans in our regional area who are interested in seeing our nation's memorials on a two-day trip to Washington D.C. Wamego High School National Honor Society students serve as guardians for their esteemed veterans during the trip.  As a way to honor them for their service, veterans do not pay for this opportunity, thanks to Sponsors and fund raising!  www.whshonorflight.com.

OztoberFest has become the Honor Flight Reunion venue for the Wamego High School organization. The veterans and the students whom participated for the past five years come together once again to visit and reminisce.
